On the passing of my Dad and my Birthday

To everyone who has wished me a happy birthday, left an encouraging note about the loss of my dad and how these two events are so close to one another – Thank you so much!  I have read each and every one and you have all encouraged me, made me smile, and in some cases made me laugh out loud.

I have decided after being in a bit of a fog this morning that today I am celebrating the life of my father, and the many ways his life has shaped & influenced mine. I have several thoughts I will share later but today I’m thankful to God for a father who was, although far from perfect, a faithful, kind, hilarious, and good man.  His impact will resound  through the lives of the families of his sons and daughter as well as the many people he has known & shared life with over the years.

Today for me is bittersweet, but joyful and profound.  I rejoice that my Dad is smiling, that his pain and suffering is no more, and that he is in the presence of the Living God whom I love and serve.  It’s good to know I’ll see him again one day.

And I celebrate my birthday today knowing that he had something to do with that, as well. 🙂
